We know what you’re thinking: what does that have to do with love? Well, for Rebecca Krohn and Adam Hendrickson, bacon means much more than just a delicious strip of meat. It was a sign of love.
As a principal dancer of the New York City Ballet, Rebecca was performing in “The Nutcracker” when she started dating a fellow dancer, Adam, during the holiday season in 1999. Every night after their shows, she and Adam would go eat at a diner.
On one night in particular, she sat across from him, unusually exhausted from the hours-long workout before. So Adam, being the Baconeer he is, handed her a piece of bacon off his plate (love will make you do crazy things).
As a vegetarian of five years at the time, she hesitated. But she could see how concerned he was. “You need the protein,” he said. “You’re going to feel so much better.” She took the bacon. And that was the moment she knew.
The two married in 2011.
Yes, they will probably say they have so much in common and yes, they’re both very fit and handsome but we all know the real reason: it was that one night in 1999 after an ordinary Nutcracker show when Adam had the courage to pick up that crispy strip of happiness and hand it to the lucky girl sitting across from him.
So, get off Tinder and head for the nearest diner. You might find more than bacon there.
(But if not, that’s okay. You still had bacon.)
